Varda Shine, Managing Director of The Diamond Trading Company DTC UK is the head office of the DTC global network of distribution outlets that sells around 40% of the world’s rough diamonds by value. Based in London, DTC UK hosts 10 Sights a year, providing diamonds for those with both London and Canada Sights. The DTC’s London office is the traditional home of rough diamond distribution and is now the strategic centre for the DTC’s operations.

Many of the DTC’s Key Account Managers (KAMs) are based in London, and these KAMs supply an increased level of tailored support for Sightholders by understanding Sightholder business needs, providing dedicated account planning, and furthering the development of customer relationship management. The DTC’s London office is also the home of DTC’s Intellectual Property and the DTC’s global management team.

The DTC is the world’s leading developer and producer of diamond technology and operates a dedicated Research and Development facility based in the UK. The work of the DTC’s Research Centre is undertaken to support the consistency of DTC rough diamond assortments for its clients and the sustainability of diamond manufacturing in producer partner countries.

During 2007 DTC UK transformed DTC Sales. The transition from the traditional Sales function to a more customer-centric, service oriented, business unit included the formation of two new units; Branding & Client Services and Communications.


The new sales and client services department will continue with the objective of being the world’s most effective distributor of rough diamonds by:

  1. Providing a stable and consistent supply of rough diamonds to clients.
  2. Building and maintaining the relationship in partnership, driven by the continuing objective to align more closely DTC supply, with the requirements of the Sightholders in their account plans (based on the CPQ's submitted).
  3. Becoming the preferred business partner to the Sightholder, by offering leading research into the diamond industry, optimising the benefits of the Sightholder community and their interaction with the DTC during Sight week, business seminars and the Sightholder extranet.
